1. About This Platform

This platform is a non-profit public-interest mapping project developed and maintained by Al-Marsad – Arab Human Rights Center in the Golan Heights.

It presents interactive maps, timelines, images, stories, and research-based geographic information for documentation, education, advocacy, journalism, and public awareness.

02

2. Nature of the Information

The platform may include historical place names, local geographic features, destroyed or occupied villages, water resources, roads, event locations, media, narrative story steps, and other documentation layers.

Some information is based on research, field documentation, archival material, community knowledge, partner sources, public sources, or interpretation of available evidence.

The platform is not an official cadastral, surveying, navigation, emergency, or legal-boundary system.

03

3. Accuracy and Limitations

We work to keep the information careful and useful, but the platform may contain gaps, approximations, or later corrections.

Locations, boundaries, dates, descriptions, and classifications should be understood as documentation and research material, not as final legal determinations.

Do not rely on the platform as your only source for safety, navigation, legal claims, property matters, emergency response, or other high-stakes decisions.

04

4. Ownership, Credits, and Third-Party Material

Unless otherwise stated, original text, map compositions, interface design, story structure, and organization-created documentation are owned or controlled by Al-Marsad.

Some images, basemaps, satellite imagery, archival references, or credited materials may belong to third parties and remain subject to their own terms.

Mapbox basemaps and imagery are used as background context. Required attribution is displayed in the map interface, and Mapbox does not own or endorse Al-Marsad’s original data.

05

5. Permitted Use

You may:

View and interact with the public platform
Share links to public pages
Quote or reference limited excerpts for non-commercial research, education, journalism, advocacy, or public-interest work with clear attribution to Al-Marsad

You may not:

Scrape, crawl, bulk-download, mirror, or rebuild the platform or its datasets without permission
Sell, repackage, or provide the data as a standalone dataset, product, or service
Remove credits, watermarks, or attribution notices
Misrepresent the source, certainty, meaning, or context of the information
Use the platform in a way that harms availability, security, or the rights and safety of others
06

6. Reuse and Permission Requests

Small non-commercial references are generally allowed with attribution.

For reuse of datasets, map layers, images, exports, screenshots in publications, commercial use, institutional reuse, or any unclear use case, please contact us first.

Unless we give written permission, no license is granted for bulk extraction, redistribution, or commercial exploitation of platform data.

07

7. Privacy and Technical Data

The public platform is designed to collect minimal information. We may process basic technical data needed to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service, such as request metadata, device/browser information, security signals, and privacy-friendly usage statistics if enabled.

We do not sell personal data, use targeted advertising, or intentionally track visitors across unrelated services.

Third-party services required to render maps or media may receive technical requests needed for those features and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

08

8. Availability and Changes

We may update, correct, reorganize, add, remove, or temporarily disable content or features.

We may limit access when needed to protect the platform from abuse, excessive automated traffic, security risks, or misuse.

The platform is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of uninterrupted access or complete accuracy.

09

9. Feedback and Corrections

We welcome corrections, additional documentation, and good-faith feedback.

Submitting feedback does not guarantee that a change will be made, but we may review and incorporate updates when appropriate.

10

10. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date will reflect the latest version.
